Description

Hours: Three hours lecture per week Description: Introduction to major environmental ethical themes. Explores how and why ideas about humanity¿s relationship with the natural world have changed in response to the enlightenment, industrial revolution, and modern era, as well as technology and science. Centers on the evolution of the human condition and worldview, as well as the impact of ideas and ethical orientations upon the natural world. Topics include western and non-western ethical theories and beliefs, the changing meanings of ¿nature¿ in diverse societies, case studies of environmental ethics, and socio-ecological movements.
