Description
Hours: Six hours activity per week Recommended: Some experience with Hip Hop Dance Description: An advanced progression of hip hop dance practices, history, and culture. Activities will focus on the students¿ ability to ¿get open,¿ or in other words achieve an improvisational flow state in their dance practice that requires fluency in one or more hip hop dance styles. Students will embody and examine hip hop dance as a global phenomenon, catalyst and carrier of social justice movements, and its inclusion as a competitive sport in the Olympics. Examines aspects of race, gender, sexuality, and power that factor into the growth, commoditization, and ubiquity of hip hop dance. Effective fall 2022, changed from PADA 456
