Description Guest Speaker

CI Dance Studies is excited to present The Living Room Sessions which brings influential guests in to discuss the wonderful complexity of a life in dance. This event features panelists who established the Oxnard hip hop dance and cultural scene. Dancer and choreographer Anthony Thomas achieved worldwide fame for choreographing Janet Jackson’s iconic Rhythm Nation and Alright videos. Dr. Raudel Banuelos, CSUCI’s Chumash Cultural Advisor, along with DJ J Scratch, and popper/locker/band leader Joe Ortiz will all sit down in our “living room,” Malibu Hall 120 to talk about the roots of hip hop elements in Oxnard, the dance scene, crews, friendship, and beyond. Please join us for this Living Room Session to learn about how the 805 has a strong dance community and contributed to global hip hop dance and culture.
