MUS 366 - Jazz and Blues Improvisation
Description
Hours: One hour seminar and two hours activity per week Prerequisite: MUS 365 with grade C- or better, or Consent of Instructor Description: Introduces improvisational techniques utilizing African-American blues scales, jazz modes, jazz diatonic harmony, Latin music song forms, and musical transcriptions of important blues and jazz artists. Explores spontaneous interaction through collaborative group interplay and solo performances. Students will acquire the skills needed to effectively improvise in a variety of musical styles.
