Description

Hours: Three hours lecture per week Description: Focuses on music notation, reading music, and working with the basic materials of the Western major-minor tonal system. Topics include musicianship; notation; meter and rhythm; diatonic melody and harmony; and music technology; as well as aural skills. Designed for students without any prior experience in music.

In this low-cost course, you will learn how to read sheet music, charts, and lead sheets. It will focus on popular music examples, but include some jazz and Western art music ("classical"). Classes will meet synchronously; however, attendance is not calculated into your final grade. All levels/majors are welcome and encouraged to enroll!
