Service-learning is an academic program which enables students to perform meaningful service related to their courses. Service-learning courses provide innovative, engaging and transformative educational experiences for CSUCI students while contributing to efforts that address the social, environmental, scientific, economic and civic issues of our time. These experiences prepare our students to be civic leaders with the tools and work-force ready skills needed to tackle the most pressing economic, scientific, social and civic issues of our time. Service learning classes are offered in many departments and demonstrate the creative expertise of faculty committed to extending disciplinary work into local communities. Currently, approximately 1,200-1,500 students from 40-60 university courses are placed at 50-60 community agencies each academic year.
