Description: Hours: Three hours lecture per week
Description: Students explore the many reasons and motivations that people and societies create art across time and space. The course surveys arts of Non-Western cultures with particular focus on Africa, Oceania, and the Americas. Issues of focus include themes in art and artistic achievements, colonization and independence, migration and diaspora, as well as the representation of diverse communities.
