SOC 325 - Quantitative Research Methods and Analysis

Description: Hours: Three hours lecture per week Prerequisite: MATH 201 or MATH 202/PSY 202 or DATA 200, and SOC 202, SOC 300, SOC 305  Description: Introduces students to the principles and practices of research methods and analysis in the social sciences. The course covers the development of research questions, formulation of hypotheses, and the identification and operationalization of variables through appropriate measurement strategies appropriate for quantitative methodologies. Emphasis is placed on secondary data analysis and surveys. Students learn core statistical techniques for describing and analyzing social data, including both descriptive and inferential methods. Hands-on training in SPSS and/or Excel equips students to conduct data analysis and produce professional-quality visualizations.
