Description: Hours: Three hours lecture and three hours laboratory per week
Prerequisite: PHYS 200 and MATH 151
Description: A calculus-based introduction to the concepts and principles of physics. The areas covered include: thermal physics, electrostatic force, electric fields, Gauss¿ Law, DC and AC electrical circuits, magnetism, Ampere¿s Law, electromagnetic induction, Faraday¿s Law and electromagnetic radiation. Practical examples will be used to illustrate the relationship between physics and other disciplines, including the life sciences, and to develop problem-solving skills. Laboratory sessions will include hands-on experiments and data analysis, and a minimum of two formal lab reports will be required.
