Description: The course offers an exploration of visual and material culture by artists from diverse communities of the United States with particular focus on cultural identities. Modern and contemporary arts will be addressed in regard to issues of belonging, politics of identity, cultural representation, display practices, and the complex effects of the political and economic on art markets.
