Historical periods may include the music of the Medieval church, the evolution of opera, the American musical theatre, and jazz, as well as historical and contemporary world music. Examines the societal forces that helped to shape classical and popular musical styles, and how music can and has influenced culture. Students must earn a C- or better to fulfill the Graduation Writing Assessment Requirement (GWAR).
