Description: Hours: Three hours lecture per week Recommended: ECS 330 and ECS 335 Description: Students will explore and analyze authentic children's picture books for children birth to age 8 that depict the nuanced intersectional identities and experiences of Latinx children. Emphasis will be placed on children's picture books that give insight into the socio-cultural, socio-political, and histories that influence Latinx children's learning, development, and everyday experiences. Students will also identify how utilizing authentic Latinx children's books can promote developmental domains such as language, literacy, social-emotional, and history-social science. This is a service-learning course.
