Description: A writing-intensive course that examines major visual components of postmodern and contemporary culture in the United States and globally. This course uses interdisciplinary approaches to explore issues related to postmodern and contemporary art, architecture, and visual culture, emphasizing late 20th- and 21st-century developments in film, performance, social art practice, and digital media, as well as in such traditional forms of creative expression as painting, sculpture, photography, and architecture. An emphasis will be placed on engagement with critical theory and art criticism.
