Topics include plate tectonics and seafloor geology, water properties and seawater chemistry, atmosphere¿ocean circulation, waves, tides, coasts and sea-level change, and human¿ocean interactions. Includes a weekly laboratory emphasizing quantitative problem-solving, data collection/analysis, and communication of results. Satisfies GE 5A and 5C.
