Description
Hours: Three hours lecture/discussion per week Prerequisite: Admission to the Masters in Education Program and/or Preliminary Administrative Services Credential Program. Description: This course will focus on application of federal, state and local law to school government and management. Topics include legal principles of statutes and case law related to conduct of students, contracts, liabilities, torts, and individual rights; legal framework for the governance of public education; the role of the legislative process in the governance of schools; legal requirements of ¿due process¿ as it relates to students, parents, and school personnel; and special education law and procedures.
