Description

Hours: Six hours activity per week Prerequisites: ANTH 105 Provides an introduction to the different approaches and methods related to archaeological reconnaissance, which involves the discovery, evaluation, and recording of cultural resources. Emphasis will be placed on the theory and practical application of archaeological field research skills associated with site survey. Course topics include sampling strategies; site identification; evaluation of site locations and conditions (such as soils, landscape formations, plant habitats, and urban disturbance); site documentation and reporting techniques; and legislative compliance.
