Description
Hours: Three hours lecture per week Prerequisites: POLS 103 Explores the history of African states as colonies and the era of independence, the creation of institutions of domination (such as the apartheid state in South Africa and other authoritarian regimes), and the process of democratization. Examines the international political economy of the region, the AIDS crisis, regional politics including political and economic integration through the African Union, Africa's role in international politics, and contemporary conflicts.
