Hours: Three hours lecture per week Description: Explores the many reasons and motivations that people and societies create art across time and space. Surveys arts of Non-Western cultures with particular focus on Africa, Oceania, and the Americas. Studies artistic achievements from ancient through contemporary times. Also considers issues related to colonization and independence.
