SOC 390 - Sociology of Culture
Description
Hours: Three hours lecture per week Prerequisite: SOC 100, SOC 201, and SOC 202 (SOC 201 and/or SOC 202 may be taken concurrently) Description: Introduces students to sociological study of culture as an aspect of social life. By incorporating classical, current, and critical approaches in sociological studies of culture, and by drawing on examples from analyses of cultural artifacts (e.g., art, music, drama, literature, and media) students will be exposed to sociological understanding of culture as a symbolic system and its significance in the reproduction of social life.
