EMEC 310 - Electronics

Description

Hours: Three hours lecture and two hours activity per week Prerequisite: PHYS 101 or PHYS 201 Description: Covers basic analog and digital, electronic circuits used in a scientific laboratory. Students will be introduced to operation of simple electronic devices, basic underlying theory of their operation, and applications of a few analog and digital ICs. Emphasis is on applications rather than theory. Consequently, there is strong hands-on component to subject to enable students to gain practical experience. Experiments will include testing of actual and virtual circuits, and data acquisition. At least two formal laboratory reports will be required. Students must earn a C- or better to fulfill the Graduation in Writing Assessment Requirement (GWAR).
