NRS 222 - Nursing Care of Adults Ii
Description
Hours: Three hours lecture per week Prerequisite: NRS 220 and NRS 221 Corequisite: NRS 223 Description: This course focuses on the inter-professional care of adult patients experiencing acute and chronic health alterations that require medical and/or surgical intervention. Emphasis is placed on the care of patients with alterations in selected body functions: hematology, renal and genitourinary, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, neurological systems, as well as fluid and electrolyte balance, acid-base balance, and oncology care. Concepts of patient-centered care, evidence based practice, informatics, safety, patient education, teamwork and collaboration, leadership, systems-based practice, and professionalism are integrated throughout the course. The Neuman Systems Model and nursing process guide the student in holistic nursing practice for achievement of optimal patient outcomes.
