ART 490 - Special Topics in Art

Description

Hours: Three hours lecture per week Prerequisites: Art Major, Upper Division Standing Special topics explore a variety of themes investigating the relationships of art and artists to aspects of social commentary, multiculturalism, experimental genres, commerce, first amendment rights and the role of art in a global society. Topics are presented on a rotating basis. Students are given the opportunity to experience in-depth interaction with visiting artists, industry professionals, art scholars and academicians.

Field trips to be arranged
This special topics class will introduce students to a range of critical issues and professional practices in art history and related fields, through site visits, guest speakers, readings, and other activities. This class will involve frequent required trips off campus, typically on Fridays. Students are advised not to schedule other obligations on Fridays until after the start of the term
