MATH 200 - Stretch College Statistics Ii

Description

Hours: Three hours lecture per week Prerequisite: MATH 199 Description: Second semester in two-semester, stretch sequence covering statistical reasoning with embedded support, including operations on numbers and sets, equations and inequalities, reading tables and graphs, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Students will engage in cooperative and active learning, and learn how probability techniques, hypothesis testing, and predictive techniques are used to facilitate decision-making. Topics include descriptive statistics; probability and sampling distributions; statistical inference; correlation and linear regression; analysis of variance, chi-square and t-tests; and application of technology for statistical analysis, including the interpretation of the relevance of the statistical findings. Students will determine appropriate problem-solving techniques to address statistical questions using real-world or simulated data from broad range of disciplines, incorporating software or other technology.
