Hours: Three hours lecture per week Description: Explores the many reasons people and societies create art, and how their motivations are alike and different across time and space, by surveying arts of Non-Western cultures including those of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas. Studies artistic achievements from ancient through contemporary times. Also considers issues related to colonization and independence.
