ART 435 - Contemporary Art-1970-Present

Description

Hours: Three hours lecture per week Prerequisite: Junior Standing and successful completion of Golden Four GE Areas (A1, A2, A3, B4) Description: A writing intensive course that examines the major visual components of postmodern culture. This course will explore a wide range of issues related to the multicultural identity of contemporary culture. Developments in the late 20th and early 21st centuries such as film, digital media, and critical theory as well as traditional visual forms of expression such as painting and sculptures will be discussed. Students must earn a C- or better to fulfill the Graduate Writing Assessment Requirement (GWAR).
