NRS 452 - Community Health Nursing
Description
Hours: Three hours lecture per week Prerequisite: Admission to the BSN program or the ADN or RN to BSN program Corequisite: NRS 453 Description: Population health requires an understanding of basic public health principles and how collaborative activities with a variety of entities impact disease prevention and management in diverse communities and populations. Emphasis is placed on considering the social determinants of health as they impact individuals, communities, and population with a focus on addressing health inequities and structural barriers that result in differential health outcomes using an evidence-based approach. The nursing roles of advocacy, activism, and reflective practice is explored to gain a deeper understanding of the professional responsibility to assure equitable access and treatment of all across healthcare settings.
