Hours: Three hours lecture per week Prerequisites: POLS 103 Examines countries of the Middle East from the late 19th century to the present. Focus is on problems these states have faced in their struggle for economic, political, and social development in the broader global system. Examines impacts of the Arab-Israeli conflict, Islamic fundamentalism, and extra-regional states, such as the U.S.
