Description: Hours: Two hours lecture per week Prerequisite: NRS 412 and NRS 413 Description: This course focuses on individuals with chronic illness, intractable pain, and those at the end-of-life. Students will learn to care for the biopsychosocial needs of both the patient and family members. National and global perspectives on the delivery of palliative care will be explored, including different cultural beliefs, values, and spirituality. Students will also learn about the physiological and psychosocial dimensions of palliative care. Geographic and social factors that affect the delivery of care during advanced illness and at the end of life will be discussed.
