Description: This course is an introduction to the histories, philosophies, ways of knowing and knowledge/wisdom production in the field of Native American and Indigenous Studies. Because this area of study is both inter- and multi-disciplinary, we will take into consideration the social, cultural, legal, and political philosophies that have been developed and maintained by Indigenous Peoples of the western hemisphere including North, Central, South America, the Caribbean, and the Pacific with specific attention and responsibility to the teachings and lifeways of California Native Peoples.
