Description: Hours: Two hours lecture and three hours laboratory per week Prerequisite: Junior Standing and successful completion of Golden Four GE Areas (1A, 1B, 1C, 2) Description: Exploration of fundamental concepts and techniques in geographic information systems (GIS) with a focus on environmental decision-making. Students will learn to collect, manipulate, analyze, interpret, and communicate spatial information using GIS software, emphasizing cartographic principles, spatial data visualization, and geospatial analysis. Hands-on labs provide practical experience with ESRI's ArcGIS Pro platform, while lectures address the theoretical foundations of GIS, including coordinate systems, data types, and the integration of GIS with other spatial technologies. This course highlights the role of GIS in environmental management, conservation, and interdisciplinary problem-solving.
