Description: Hours: Three hours lecture per week Prerequisites: ECS 460 and ECS 461, Senior Standing and Program permission Corequisites: ECS 450 and ECS 486 Description: Focus on content and methods of teaching mathematics and science for children from diverse family, linguistic and cultural backgrounds ages 3-8. Inclusion of inquiries for multilingual and special rights learners. A consistent topic explored throughout the course includes the funds of knowledge of children and families around math (number concept, geometry, probability, and measurement) and science (exploration, inquiry, natural word, scientific knowledge), bringing those ¿knowledges¿ into the classroom with the goal of creating effective curriculum and building on/extending the funds of knowledge.
