  • Death is a universal truth for all life. This course will explore the cultural, social, and biological nature of human death and dying. Examples of course topics that will be covered include: the biological process of dying and decomposition, mortuary rituals and funerary behavior, cultural taboos and affects of death on society, mourning and bereavement, and the ethic of the study of human remains both past and present. Presented material will consist of the earliest burial evidence to date through modern practices and thoughts.
