Description: Introduction to the profession of healthcare interpreting from English to Spanish and vice versa. Includes ample practice in the three most frequent modes of interpretation in medical settings (i.e., sight translation, simultaneous interpretation, and consecutive interpretation). Topics include medical terminology, role of interpreter, code of ethics, standards of practice, interpreting laws, and multicultural interactions. May be taken before or after SETI/SPAN 452.
