Description: Hours: Three hours lecture per week Prerequisite: NRS 200, NRS 201, NRS 303 and NRS 306 Corequisite: NRS 221 Description: This course focuses on the inter-professional care of adult patients experiencing acute and chronic health alterations that require medical and/or surgical intervention. Emphasis is placed on the care of patients with alterations in selected body functions: integumentary, sensory, endocrine, cardiovascular, respiratory systems, as well as perioperative and end-of-life care. Concepts of patient-centered care, evidence based practice, informatics, safety, communication, leadership, and professionalism are integrated throughout the course. The Neuman Systems Model and nursing process guide the student in holistic nursing practice for achievement of optimal patient outcomes.
