Prerequisite: Admission to Education Specialist Teaching Credential program
Description: Course focuses on the theory and practice of the reading and writing process across the grade levels from a Structured Literacy perspective, including the literacy and language development needs of first and second language learners, as well as students that experience difficulties in literacy. Data collection, identification of learning needs, planning and evaluating evidence-based instructional practices to identify an appropriate strategy. Assessment strategies, educational technologies, literacy in the content areas and the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) are integrated.
