Biography
Dr. Yeawon Yoo is an assistant professor at California State University Channel Islands. Her research focuses on operations research, decision analysis, and computational optimization, with applications in crowdsourcing and nonprofit organizations. Her work combines quantitative methods, machine learning, and large-scale data analysis to improve decision-making processes in both the business and nonprofit sectors. Dr. Yoo is also passionate about integrating artificial intelligence to enhance student education.
Before joining CSUCI, Dr. Yoo was a postdoctoral fellow at the SNF Agora Institute at Johns Hopkins University, where she applied natural language processing and clustering methods to analyze nonprofit organizations. She earned her Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Arizona State University. Her dissertation, titled "Computationally Expedient Social-Choice Related Property for Group Decision-Making," includes her development of mathematical programming frameworks for distributed decision-making and her contributions to understanding multimodal input aggregation for crowdsourcing.
