Biography
With a passion for the transformative power of three-dimensional art, Professor Matt Furmanski encourages students to explore the intersections of form, space, and materiality. By fostering an environment that values experimentation and critical thinking, Professor Furmanski empowers students to push creative boundaries and develop their unique artistic voices.
My Areas of Expertise:

My Artistic Practice:
Professor Furmanski's work spans large-scale installations, kinetic sculptures, and public art projects. Inspired by themes of ecology, human interaction, and urban landscapes, Matthew combines traditional techniques with modern technology to create dynamic, thought-provoking pieces. Matt's art has been featured in exhibitions and collections across the country and overseas.
Some of My Professional Achievements:
• Recipient of the Durfee ARC Grant, collaborations with the Armory Center for the Arts and the Getty
• Public art commissions for the City of Ventura, Santa Barbara, Idyllwild Art Center
• Published articles in Art in America, Artforum, The Los Angelos Times
Born and raised in Southern California, Professor Furmanski enjoys spending time surfing, sailing and traveling with his family.
