Biography
Dr. Ballesteros-Sola is an Assistant Professor of Management at the MVS School of Business & Economics. She received her DBA from IE Business School (Spain), MBA from the Graduate School of Management at Boston University, and Law Degree (LLB) from Universidad Pontificia Comillas-ICADE (Spain). She is a proud Fulbright Scholar (1998-2000) and Paul R. Lawrence Fellow (2016).
Her research interests include hybrid organizations, B Corps, social entrepreneurship, and non-profit organizations engaging in Earned Income Strategies (EIS). She has published in the Journal of Social Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurship Education & Pedagogy, International Journal of Social Business, Case Research Journal, and the Journal of Social Business. As part of her engagement with the case research community, she serves on several editorial boards (Emerald Emerging Markets Case Collection, Wine Business Journal, El-Khazindar Business Research and Case Center), is the Chair of the Social Impact track for North America Case Research Association (NACRA) and the co-editor of the SAGE Social Impact Case Collection. Her cases have won awards in both NACRA and USASBE annual conferences. In addition, Professor Ballesteros-Sola is a member of the Academy of Management and is a regular reviewer of several Journals.
She is also actively involved with B Academics which she co-founded, and USASBE (US Association of Small Business and Entrepreneurship).
Previous to her teaching and research work, she worked in financial services and management consulting on both sides of the Atlantic (Madrid, London, NYC, Boston, Chicago, Raleigh, and Mexico City), helping banks and other organizations use technology to achieve their business objectives.
Dr. Ballesteros-Sola is also a strong advocate for the use of technology in higher education, internationalization, and experiential/service learning. She has been engaging her students with local and international non-profits and social entrepreneurs since 2010 and has run study abroad courses in her native Spain. She is currently serving as the Channel Islands representative to the CSU Academic Council on International Programs.
Dr. Ballesteros-Sola loves reading, traveling, Latin dancing, and tacos.
