Biography
Dr. Jill Leafstedt is Dean of Extended University, Digital Learning, and International Programs at California State University Channel Islands, where she has served since 2002. She holds the rank of Full Professor in the School of Education and is a tenured member of the faculty.
Dr. Leafstedt earned her Ph.D. in Education with an emphasis in Special Education, Disability and Risk Studies and an interdisciplinary emphasis in Cognitive Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She began her career at CSUCI as founding coordinator of the Education Specialist credential program, developing curriculum, achieving state credentialing approval, and leading the program through accreditation.
In her current role, she oversees a the self-support academic enterprise spanning Extended University, Digital Learning, and International Programs. Her work includes program development, faculty development, academic technology, and AI governance and capacity building. She has published in EDUCAUSE Review and EdSurge and has presented at national conferences on digital learning, faculty development, and academic innovation.
