Biography
Daniel Wakelee is Emeritus Professor of Political Science at California State University Channel Islands. A native of California, Dan earned his undergraduate degree at Occidental College, his masters at California State University Northridge, and his doctorate at the University of California at Santa Barbara.
Prior to joining CI, Dan helped to lead the CSU Northridge off-campus center in Ventura and later on the Channel Islands campus. Before working in higher education he served as director of FOOD Share, the regional food bank serving Ventura County. His experience also includes working in legislative offices and in electoral politics.
He served as Associate Dean of the Faculty, Assistant Provost, Associate Provost and Interim Provost. He taught courses including The National Park, and Education Politics and Policy. He published articles on policy issues in national parks, administrative practices in higher education, and pedagogical approaches in public policy courses. Among his administrative projects, Dan was involved in establishing CI's research station on Santa Rosa Island in Channel Islands National Park.
