Biography
Lindsey Trimble O’Connor is an Associate Professor in the Sociology and Anthropology Program at CSUCI. Her areas of scholarly interest include gender, work, family, and social networks.
O’Connor's research examines the effects of current workplace structures and cultures that proliferate the "ideal worker" norm—the norm that says the best workers are available for work 24/7 and put in the most face time. She is particularly interested in identifying how the current rules of work disadvantage those who have caregiving responsibilities or need flexible work—in other words, people who do not fit the ideal worker model. Her work has appeared in Gender & Society, Work & Occupations, Sociological Perspectives, and Social Science Research.
O'Connor joined CSUCI in 2013. Before joining CI, O'Connor worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Michelle R. Clayman Institute for Gender Research at Stanford University. She earned her Ph.D. in Sociology from Washington State University in 2012.
