Biography
Liz King received a B.A. in 1986 and an M.F.A. in 1990 from the University of California, Los Angeles. Her specialties include Graphic and Web Design, Multimedia and Computer Animation. Before coming to CI she was as a faculty member at the Academy of Entertainment and Technology, Santa Monica College where she taught courses in computer graphics/animation and interactive media. She has been a faculty member at CI, teaching courses in Computer Graphics, Web Design, and Multimedia and Drawing, since it’s opening in the fall of 2002.
Ms. King has been the recipient of awards and recognition for her scholarship, and for her design and art work. She received the Armand Hammer Prize in the Visual Arts given by the Los Angeles Arts Council, a UCLA Art Council Award, and was awarded the President’s Fellowship in Art from UCLA. She has exhibited her artwork in juried shows and exhibitions throughout the United States and Europe.
She has worked in the field of Broadcast Design and Motion Graphics at Novocom where she contributed to the 1997 ABC Monday Night Football campaign. She has done design work for CBS’s Sunday Morning show, ESPN, Los Angeles’ UPN Channel 13 News, Entertainment Tonight and Discovery Channel’s Animal Planet. At USA Network’s Styleclick Inc. she was Art Director for the First Auction website and created graphics for the Oxygen Network and for the NASCAR website. She has worked closely with renowned advertising executive Harry Webber at Smart Communications.
Her web and graphic design work can be viewed on the Internet and her clients include radio station KCRW, Nic Harcourt, ion Networks, General Fiber Communications Inc., DeLeT of Chicago, Vital Living, Copodocia Inc., FalconStor Software.
She has been involved with the community teaching as an instructor in the Launchpad program—an intensive Middle College summer program for high school students that includes instruction in computer graphics and animation.
