Biography

Stephen Clark received his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado with a dissertation on the autobiographical writings of Cuban exiles. He has lived in Spain, where he finished his master's degree, and has traveled to many countries in Latin America. His publications include criticism, literary translations, interviews of major Cuban writers, and book reviews.

Prior to joining CI, Professor Clark taught at Northern Arizona University and Indiana State University, where he served in a variety of roles such as Spanish Section Head and Coordinator of Lower Division Spanish courses. Prior to completing his doctorate, he taught Spanish for three years at the high school level.

In addition to Spanish language courses, Professor Clark greatly enjoys teaching Latin American literature, literary translation, and Latin American culture and civilization. He also enjoys creating Special Topics courses such as "Film in the Hispanic World" and "Cuba in Literature and Film."

In his free time, Professor Clark enjoys sports, reading, traveling, and spending time with Paloma, his bilingual Golden Retriever, and his wife Elma.
