Biography
Clifton Justice was born in Oklahoma, where "the wind comes sweeping down the plains," in the middle of the twentieth century. In his formative years, he fell in love with live theatre and found it to be a salvation for him. After majoring in theatre and then dropping out of college, Clifton began his own theatre company in Tulsa, OK. The theatre company produced works for nearly 9 years before Clifton moved on. In that time, his productions were named some of the most outstanding pieces of work in the state of Oklahoma.
Clifton moved to the Los Angeles area in 1993, just a few months before the Northridge earthquake. In time, he returned to school to finish a degree begun many years earlier. First, he spent a year at Pierce College, then went on to get his undergraduate degree in 2001 at CSUN. He followed this with a Masters Program at CSUN, where he earned a degree in English, focusing on Composition and Rhetoric. However, he did not stop at the M.A. but went on to earn his Ph.D. from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, one of the state school's in the Pennsylvania State University System.
Clifton has taught composition at CSUCI since 2006.
