Biography
Scott A. Frisch is Professor and Chair of Political Science at California State University Channel Islands. A native of New Jersey, Scott received his undergraduate degree at Lafayette College, his Masters at the University of Pennsylvania and his doctorate at Claremont Graduate University.
Prior to becoming a college professor, Scott worked in Washington for the U.S. Department of the Treasury, as an analyst for the Office of Management and Budget, and as a Legislative Fellow for U.S. Senator Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ). He has consulted for a number of clients including the Environmental Protection Agency, the County of Los Angeles, and Goodwill Industries, Inc. His areas of expertise include Congress, public budgeting, and public policy.
Scott taught previously at East Carolina University and California State University Bakersfield. He is the author of The Politics of Pork, and co-author (with Sean Q Kelly) of Committee Assignment Politics in the U.S. House of Representatives and Jimmy Carter and the Water Wars: Presidential Influence and the Politics of Pork. His fourth book (again with Sean Q Kelly) Cheese Factories on the Moon: Why Earmarks are Good for American Democracy was published by Paradigm Publishers 2011.
