Biography

Jack Reilly received his M.F.A. in Studio Art from Florida State University in 1978. Shortly thereafter he moved to Los Angles and debuted his paintings in a one-person exhibition at the Molly Barnes Gallery in Los Angeles. By 1980 his work was represented in galleries throughout the United States including Arron Berman Gallery in New York, and Foster Goldstrom Fine Arts in San Francisco., among others.

During the past three decades, Reilly established his reputation as one of the foremost American painters working in shaped canvas. His paintings maintain an affinity for purity and simplicity, albeit shrouded in complex visual systems and laborious technique.

Articles and reviews on Reilly's work have been published in periodicals and books such as Arts Magazine, Artweek, Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles Magazine, Inside the L.A. Artist, and American Art Now.

Jack Reilly is a recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts grant and numerous awards for his art. His work is included in major public and private collections internationally including the Steve Martin Collection and the Fredrick Weisman Foundation. He has executed major public art commissions for the County of San Diego, and American Airlines at Los Angeles International Airport. His work is regularly exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the world.
