Project Details |
Background: Archaeological analysis at the Audrey site began in Summer 2011, after a 26 year hiatus. This site in west central Illinois was occupied intermittently for thousands of years, with the most recent occupation ending ca AD 1100. The site was probably occupied by colonists from outside the area. Most houses were burnt and it is likely the village was abandoned due to warfare. This project needs students willing to undertake archaeological analysis of ceramics, lithics, and faunal remains recovered from these excavations. This can be on a volunteer basis, or via independent studies/capstone projects. No experience necessary, just a true interest in learning and participating. Fieldwork opportunities may be available in the near future. Please contact Dr. Delaney for more information |
Eligibility Requirements |
