Stephen StrattonLibrarian, Library
Steve was born, raised, and educated in Michigan. He received his A.B. in communications from the University of Michigan in 1984, a M.A. in counseling from Eastern Michigan University in 1988, and a M.S. in library science at Wayne State University in 1992. At that point he had decided that winter was much too long in Michigan and sought warmer climes, which has eventually landed him here at CSUCI.
Professor Stratton has served as librarian at the New York Public Library, George Mason University, and most recently Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. His work has been predominately in government information and collection development in the health and social sciences. He has a research interest in information provision to GLBT people, and access to HIV/AIDS information in diverse communities. He served as co-chair of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered Round Table of the American Library Association, the oldest GLBT professional group in the United States from 2001-2005. His book, The Encyclopedia of HIV and AIDS, was published by Facts on File in 2003.
